nail polish review

I was really excited when I saw an ad in a magazine for Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polish because it claims to be the base coat, color and topcoat all in one. Talk about time saving!

Product Page Link

I also was pleased to see it is formaldehyde free, since I am allergic. Today I was out running errands with my sister and picked up a couple bottles. They are $6.50 at Wally, and NOT in the regular section (which has rows of empty slots) but on an endcap.
I tried them on my hand, where nail polish doesn't seem to last five minutes, and I will update you on the wear.

The application was great- the Calypso Blue is fab and would do great on the toes. This is two coats. The other color is one of the nudes, and I hate it. It doesn't go on evenly, so you have to keep going over it to make it even until it just is a mess. Very streaky looking.

(I shouldn't have applied to my right hand, it made it very hard to take a picture cuz I couldn't reach the button and hold the camera with my left!)

So I might return the nude shade, but would definately try another color.

the dot hat

This is the dot hat I made for Greggie. I followed the pattern for the hat, but did the dots in crochet cuz I am REALLY good at doing circles due to the little animals I make all the time. :)

NASA and a crazy hat

My brother D was here Saturday night and we were watching the Olympics plus he was flipping thru all our channels. He stopped on the NASA channel, and we were laughing at the five guys sitting in front of computers in a huge room full of computers. Quite boring. Then they would show the screens of the shuttle, which was orbiting upside down. (D told me an interesting fact- when they are sleeping in zero G they have to have fans blowing at their faces, or else the exhaled carbon dioxide with form a cloud around the face and they will DIE. (D's wife Julie says he is an amazing font of info and knows many things, but I know he only knows things about which he is INTERESTED cuz otherwise he didn't bother to remember them.) Now I would be a bit paranoid about sleeping without a fan, except I already have a machine blowing fresh air into my nose!)
ANYWAYS one time he had flipped back and we were laughing at the people sitting around, then they showed the shuttle graphics again, and it suddenly went crooked and the words "lost telemetry" appeared above it. We were curious what that meant, and if the people were a bit more excited but the camera did NOT go back to the room, and we got bored and went back to the Olympics.
Monday D emailed me. It turns out NASA lost its main computer.... right when we were watching... and there WAS a big panic. LOL, what are the chances ANYONE was watching right at that time??? Pretty cool.

I made this cool hat for Huna. I was pretty sure Loy would like it.

When they came over, I made Loy shut her eyes and put it on Huna. Loy opened her eyes and just started ROARING with laughter. It is pretty sweet. Makes Huna's head look three times bigger!
I think this hat might cause an even bigger public stir than the previous ones I have made her.

:)

random gifts- No boys allowed

I have made two super cool hats, but I can't post them cuz I haven't given them away yet and I want them to be a surprise.

First, I made lions to give the boys for their births. They are opposite colors. I think the faces look more bear-ish, but whatever. The boys are both turning 4 so they won't care.

This is a random butterfly for the baby gift bin.

I made Greggie Wall-E since he is obsessed with him. I got the pattern from
here.

Have a great week,

habits

My puter was down for TEN days. I nearly broke my internet addiction. :)

Last night I was thinking about habits. My first CPAP mask hurt the bridge of my nose, so every night I put a bandaid over it. I got a new mask a few years ago, which does NOT go on the bridge, so I stopped using the bandaid. Yet, at least once a week, as I am laying in bed putting my mask on, I panic because I "forgot" the bandaid. Then I remember I don't need it anymore.

Clearly I find it hard to break certain habits. Can I use this trait to make good habits? I have decided to try. Every day at two o'clock I am going to panic if I have not gone on the bike yet. I plan to train myself to do this by getting super excited and worked up at two if I haven't gone yet, and if I have, get all worked up and then say, whew, already did it. Do you think this will work?

The reason I picked a time cue is because I often look at the clock and panic that I haven't taken some medication or another, so I think the time cue will work for exercise also. :)

Tomorrow I will pry have some new pics to post of the stuff I have done when the puter was down...

have a good week,

hats

I have been really weak lately. Seems like I have WAY more visitors when I am home alone...

Here are a few hats I have done lately.

This is Olli's car hat. It has three cars driving down the road, and a plane in the sky. I was inspired by this pattern: http://katesaid.wordpress.com/2007/12/01/jacobs-car-hat-pattern/
but, of course, adjusted it to my own design. And used beads for the cars and plane!
Olli did request I find a lawnmower bead/button for the grass portion.

I made this crown hat for Sen. I know one of my nieces will want one as soon as she sees this, so I did make another larger one for her.

Have a good week,

Anne
