more chain maille

Hello!  I am still pretty weak, maybe from the weather, but I did make a few more bracelets.  I got asked to make another set of Angry Birds, so that will pry be my next crochet project.  I am still working on the wreaths for the Christmas cards, and have a few birthdays coming up, so pry will post some cards eventually.... :)

This bracelet is fairly simple.  It is called a flower link, because the three pink rings look like flowers.  It is from Beaded chain mail jewelry : timeless techniques with a twist  by Dylon Whyte.  I checked it out of the library and decided to purchase it.

This one was called Helm weave, I think.  :)    This is fromChained : create gorgeous chain mail jewelry one ring at a time by Mojica, Rebeca.   I did not decide to purchase it after checking it out because most of the designs were basic but adding colored rings.  Plus she had odd size rings in her patterns- I don't know where to get 17 gauge!

Have a great week!

Another Bracelet

Yes, I am still obsessed with the chain maille.  :)  And since I bought some strange ring sizes, byzantine is the one weave I can make right now...

This one is segmented.  Each piece of byzantine is separated by one of the odd size rings I got.  :)
For some reason it looks gold in this picture, It is also bright silver aluminum.

Here is a close up.

Lucky I love byzantine.  I can't get any more rings until next month!

Have a good week!

Benj's birthday

It will be my BIL's birthday in a few weeks, so I made his card yesterday.  My sister said his fave colors are black and red, and as I have already moaned, there is not one sheet of red cardstock in my craft room...lol, so I ended up with a black base for the card front.  The card itself it Whipped Cream, but you can't see it.  And I had to make it to cover up the "happy birthday" music box I cut out of a card I gave my mother years ago, before I made cards.  :)  This card is 5x7, which is bigger than usual.

I have trouble with "manly" cards.  I did notice in the SU! mini right now, they brag about having new manly stamp sets.  I only could count one.  And it was nautical. yawn.

Hopefully he will like it.  I don't think he will get to enjoy it very long as his daughter (who is 2) adores music and will surely steal the card and claim it as her own as soon as she hears it.

Have a good weekend!

More Chain Maille

Wow, I have thirty followers, and as far as I can tell, none of them are related to me!  :)   In fact, I am pretty sure only one of my relatives ever checks my blog...

I am still waiting on gold ink to finish my Christmas card trials.  Then my Mom can pick hers and I can start producing.  I always end up with cards that need lots of work, because I can't seem to help trying to top the cards for the year before.  And I need two cards, one for me and one, that I make many more of, for Mom.   She picks first and I might use the loser... or might make something else for me.  :)

In the meantime, I completed another bracelet yesterday.
Here is my Criss Cross bracelet.

Here it is on my wrist.

Have a great week!

pink chain maille

I have been reading WAY too many books with this sinus infection, so I was glad when my new chain maille rings arrived yesterday.  I had an old picture of a bracelet similar to this one and wanted to try it.  Funny how fast byzantine weave came back to me!

The big pink beads are actually plastic, but super sparkly.

Here is a close up view.  The rings are aluminum.

Pink and Black flowers

I have another sinus infection, so I haven't felt like doing much more than lying on my bed or reading books for the last week.  However, I did plan this card in my head during that time- so that should count for something!  I find sometimes I have to think about things for a while before I can make them.  In this case, I wanted to use the black/fake crystal trim on a card.  I decided on black and pink for the colors.

Then I remembered the beautiful Imaginisce double sided paper, and was sure I had a chunk of it left.  I also saw a card on a blog hop recently that had all the pieces matted with black.  All I had left to do was pick out a stamp that went well with the paper, so of course I dug out the Imaginisce  stamps and found one that looked good.

Of course, after all that thinking, you would hope the card went together quickly, but I had some trouble with the stamp.  First I had to condition it so it wasn't all splotchy.  Then none of the ink pads I had looked good with the papers, so I had to use a marker.  It is kinda hard to get a good image with a solid stamp and a marker, so that took a few tries. ( I am sure the sinus headache didn't help either!)

Anyways, I am happy with the way it turned out.

Have a happy day,
Anne

Happy Fourth of July!

Here is my 4th of July card.  I didn't make them until the first, and realized I only had a few sheets of actual red or blue cardstock left.  None of the big paper/stamp companies carry regular, crayola, primary BLUE cardstock any more either.  I had to look and look and look and, nope, not one normal just plain blue.  Sigh.

Started designing the Christmas cards this week too! hehehehe

Hope your Fourth is happy!
